There’s growing evidence that art therapy can improve:

Self Esteem

Self Awareness

Personal growth

Communication and relationship

Resilience

Parenting

and more

“It is often difficult to express my feelings and emotions in words. If you feel frustrated with traditional counseling or feel that you are not making progress, art therapy may allow you to express your feelings as they are, and through art, you may become more deeply aware of your own state of mind, then allowing you to create positive changes in your life. “ -participants

What to expect  in a typical Art Therapy session:

warmup work(meditation, body movement or simple art making) → conversation(setting up goals) – > guided art-making with the goal of self-expression and personalized problem-solving / self-discovery → art share and talk therapy (similar to a traditional counseling). → re-working or adding to existing work→ conversations and conclusion → cool down work

Again, no artistic skill, knowledge or experience is needed. “Art-making’’ is often a healing process itself. In an art therapy session, creativity is also used to connect to the client’s deeper unconscious / subconscious mind.
